Every now and again as a wedding photographer, you come across a venue that you would just LOVE to work at. The Peak Edge Hotel in Derbyshire is one such venue. From it’s location nestled amongst the rolling countryside, to it’s ceremony room that’s filled with beautiful natural light, it is a photographers dream. When Sarah and Richard got in touch to enquire about me being their Wedding Photographer I jumped at the opportunity.

I met up with Sarah early in the morning to capture her bridal preparations. Bride’s often say that there’s so many moments happening early in the day that it can seem like it’s all over before it has even started, and that they really wish their partner had been there to witness the emotions. By being there from the start of the day, I’m able to capture all of those little moments for you to relive as a couple over and over again. Richard spent the morning collecting tree branches to use as decorations in the Ceremony room. As you may expect, this wasn’t part of the schedule so it’s fair to say it took me by surprise when 30 minutes before the ceremony I found him walking around with a drill, frantically screwing the finishing touches into place! (it did look beautiful though).

The day was super hot, with bright sunshine, little shade and no winds. (Update, it was officially the hottest day of 2017), so after the ceremony we all headed outside and into the shade of some trees for the group images. I then spent approximately half an hour with Sarah & Richard, enjoying the sunshine and spectacular views of the countryside as we set about creating their couple portraits. Heading back inside to the air conditioned rooms brought welcome relief from the heat, and I spent some time capturing candid images of the guests enjoying their canopes and refreshments ahead of the wedding breakfast.

As the day drew to a close, we were blessed with a truly magnificent sunset over the open Derbyshire countryside. I waited for the perfect moment and then headed out with Sarah and Richard to create some more stunning portraits. I really loved photographing this wedding and capturing precious moments forever – here’s some of my favourite images.
