I’ve known Matt and Lisa for some time, so it was a priviledge to be asked to be their Wedding Photographer when they tied the knot back in December. This was a true winter wedding – only a couple of days before Christmas.  Winter weddings always bring about their own challenges, with limited daylight and typically cold weather, so it was lovely to be blessed with gorgeous sunshine for the day. Matt and Lisa had chosen The Priest House Hotel in Castle Donnington as the location for their perfect wedding. It was only a stones throw away from their home, and it set in an idillac location with the riverside to the front and rolling countryside to the rear.

Initially, Matt and Lisa had opted only for part day coverage, but after seeing some sample albums decided they would prefer longer coverage instead. I drove up to the hotel in plenty of time to capture the girls getting ready and then awaited Matts arrival. Christmas is always a busy time for me with family portraits, so it was lovely to photograph a winter wedding and see the Christmas trees and decorations that adorned the ceremony room. It looked spectacular. Once the ceremony had finished, I spent some time outside creating some beautiful portraits of Matt and Lisa. I loved the rustic stone and iron work, along with the ornate cottages that lines the background. I really could of spent most the day just photographing outdoors, but as it was cold we headed back inside and sat down for the breakfast.

Matt and Lisa are both car enthusiasts and race cars for a hobby. It was lovely therefore to see that some ‘racing’ elements had made it to their wedding day. The ‘gear cluster’ centre pieces, split design cake and Lisas wedding boots all served as nods to their joint interest. Just as the sun set, we headed outdoors to make the most of the spectacular skies. A beautiful wedding filled with love and happiness – here are some of my favourite images.
