WHAT TO WEAR FOR A MODEL UPDATE
OR ACTOR HEADSHOT SESSION…
I would always actively encourage you to bring along a few different ‘looks’ to work through on the day, usually between 2 & 4 works well depending on the length of your session. This helps add variety to your images
For Actor headshots, I would recommend thinking in terms of ‘characters’ or ‘roles’ that you may need to act or play. For example, a commercial look, a summery look, a sporty look, a classic look, a street look, a period look etc. I would always recommend a plain simple outfit too.
For Model updates, my advice would be largely similar, although i’d recommend keeping it more commecial / current, and including a few brighter / bolder elements too.
A few ideas. Please see images for more inspiration.
- Sport clothing / Tracksuits / Jerseys / Gilets / Trendy
- Really simple & classic – vest & jeans etc
- Oversized / baggy / slightly retro
- Smart casual blazer /shirt / chinos / floaty dress / Mediterranean summer look
- Denims are classic and popular, jackets, jeans, dresses etc
- Textured clothing – chunky knit tanks/jumpers, cords, ribs etc
- Dungarees, felt coats, bold stripes, whacky prints, patchwork etc, that can help make an outfit stand out
- Accessories can help tie outfits together – caps / beanies / body bags / glasses etc
- Avoid big logos / branding where possible
This list is not exhaustive, or a ‘please go and buy’! You will almost certainly already have clothing at home that will work well for your updates. If you are not sure, please feel free to Whatsapp me some images I can reply with suggestions.
Note about makeup – I highly reccommend children do not wear any makeup to update & headshot sessions. It is important they look completely natural. Please do not worry about spots / blemishes etc.
