Over time your photography style changes slightly. New equipment can mean ‘old workarounds’ are no longer a necessity, your experience means you may overcome challenges in a slightly different way, and you have fresh ideas that are a new and exciting challenge. Sometimes, though, it can be nice to revisit old concepts. Back around 2017/2018 i photographed a few film noir sessions, and for this shoot with Freddie, we thought it would be nice to revisit the concept. ‘Film noir’ is a gritty, black and white style of cinematography that was common in 1920-1950s crime dramas. Think very deep shadows and lots of atmosphere & suspense. Here’s a few of my favourite images.
